Our Mission

We provide New Brunswickers with compassion-focused, trauma-informed counselling and wellness. We create space for growth that honors both individual experience and the wider community journey.

Person-Centered and Trauma-Informed

Our approach to counselling is compassionate, trauma-informed, and biopsychosocial/wholelistic. We see each client as a unique individual with unique needs based on a variety of contributing factors to whatever situation they are in.

"Trauma-informed" means that we are aware of the many ways adverse or difficult life experiences can impact a person's wellness, personally and interpersonally, mind, body and spirit.

We operate under a broad definition of "trauma," whereby we understand that any life event from pre-verbal infancy to adulthood can impact that way folks show up in the world.

We aim to create a therapeutic environment focused on the safety, trust, empowerment, transparency, and collaboration with every client.

Our expert therapists specialize in various therapeutic modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems therapy, embodied recovery approaches, somatically integrated approaches, sensory-oriented approaches, polyvagal theory.

We have trauma therapists available to provide trauma-specific therapies such as: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Somatic Therapies, Trauma-Informed Yoga Integration.

The therapeutic modality used depends entirely on the needs and goals of the client and the preferences of the individual therapist assigned.

Overall Wellness

We use an approach that recognizes how our biology, psychology, and social well-being are interconnected. We believe in order to lead a meaningful and fulfilling life, one must work toward discovering a balance of wellness in the following realms: occupational, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional.

The Science and Art of Mindfulness

We utilize mindfulness tools to allow clients to develop the skills to observe and regulate their thought patterns, bodily sensations, and impulses without judgment. Paired with the active practice of self-compassion, clients develop an awareness of the universality of their challenges and can work toward solutions filled with self-acceptance.

Conscious Counselling and Wellness

Guiding Principles

Resiliency

We believe in the inherent resilience of the human spirit. We recognize that life’s circumstances, events, and transitions can test us, and acknowledge the body-mind’s innate drive and ability to heal.

We believe our clients already have everything they need to heal, within themselves. Sometimes, it just takes a trust guide and partner to help start the journey.

Our trained therapists empower individuals to navigate their personal struggles with strength and self-compassion.

Compassion

We provide a safe and empathetic space where individuals can explore their inner landscapes, overcome challenges, and embark on a journey towards positive transformation. We believe that compassion is the antidote to shame, and therefore, we create an atmosphere where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. To us, compassion is kindness and the unconditional valuing of your inherent dignity.

Inclusivity

We stand for inclusivity, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a commitment to social justice. Our mission extends beyond traditional counselling by advocating for systemic change and working towards a world where everyone has equitable access to compassionate and trauma-informed mental health support.

We adopt a position of cultural humility, and welcome folks from all backgrounds, ethnicities, (dis)ability statuses, genders, sexes, and sexual orientations into our space. We consistently engage in self-reflection, growth, and aim to protect and fight for the rights of all people.
